There are two ways to replace a lost or damaged library item:

  • Option A: Pay the full replacement cost of the loss of respective item; or
  • Option B: Replace with a copy that is acceptable to the Library.
Type of lost item

Full replacement cost:
Book In-Print

Cost of books as listed in the current bibliographical tools.
Book Out-of-Print

Cost of replacing the item will be calculated based on the intrinsic value of the library material, as estimated by NIE Chief Librarian.
Single Journal issues

Cost of back issues as charged by publishers.
Non-print materials

The Library will determine from appropriate catalogues the cost of replacement for such materials.

 

Both are subject to a processing fee of SGD$20 + GST. Please note that payment for a lost item is non-refundable. Overdue fines for the lost item, if any, will be imposed.
